Our programs enrich the local community by giving customers the skills, abilities and knowledge required for success.

Services for Everyone

Michigan Works! strives to prepare all individuals for entry into or transition within the labor force. Regardless of income or family size, Michigan Works! can help you get the job you want. All services are Free of Charge.

  • Use our computers in our resource rooms with a high-speed connection to access the internet-based Michigan Talent Bank. The Michigan Talent Bank is the state's online employment service system which is maintained by the Department of Labor and Economic Growth. Use this system to access thousands of job openings in Michigan and to post your résumé for employers to view.

  • Assistance with developing personalized résumés and cover letters. This includes résumé writing software and written materials.

  • Help with preparing for a job interview.

  • Job leads and referrals including want ads from local newspapers.

  • Career exploration tools. Use this information to learn about the skills and training needed for specific occupations, where to obtain training, and your skills.

  • Job search skills information.

  • Labor market information such as employment/unemployment and occupational wage data.

  • Listings of local human service agencies and employers.

  • Information regarding filing claims for unemployment compensation.

  • Financial aid information.

  • Eligibility determination for classroom and on-the-job training opportunities.

Services for Veterans

  • Each of our offices has a Veterans' Employment Specialist to assist eligible veteran job seekers. Services are available to people having served in active military duty for 180 days or more, who were separated from service with other than dishonorable discharge, or who were released from duty due to a service-connected disability. Services include job placement assistance, coordination with veteran’s affairs rehabilitation programs, program referral and vocational counseling.
     

Services for the Disabled

  • A Rehabilitation Representative is available to assist eligible individuals. Services are provided to job seekers with physical or cognitive impairments that may interfere with the ability to obtain or retain employment, adjusting to a new work environment or maintaining steady employment. Services include financial aid for college, vocational training, job coaching, supported employment, medical and psychological support.
     

Services for Younger Youth

  • Several programs are available to eligible youth ages 14 through 18. programs are designed to prepare youth for careers by offering a variety of academic and career related activities. Services include career exploration, life skills training, job search skills training, job placement assistance, vocational and on-the-job training.
     

Services for Older Youth (Club Cash)

  • A fast paced program designed to provide young adults (ages 19-21) assistance with employability skills, resume writing, cover letters, and interviewing skills. The program also includes job shadowing and paid work experience related to their vocational interest. Services include the above elements in addition to incentive payments, job search and placement assistance, career counseling and planning.
